An introduction to the Spanish language with an equal emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Grammar and vocabulary are basic and related to daily situations. This class is for non-Spanish speakers only. Must pass 1^st semester before continuing to 2^nd semester.

Spanish II FOR201-202

A continuation of Spanish I. The emphasis is still on communication, but reading and writing skills are also important. Grammar and vocabulary are more extensive than in Spanish I. This class is designed for non Spanish speakers. Must pass 1^st semester before continuing to 2^nd semester.

Spanish III FOR301-302

This class is designed for students who understand some Spanish but do not feel comfortable reading and writing it. It will place emphasis on teaching grammar and vocabulary, as well as reading and writing skills in Spanish. It will include some cultural studies, as well. This class is designed for students who want to improve their ability to speak, read and write Spanish. It will be primarily in Spanish with some English reinforcement. Must pass first semester to move to second semester.

Spanish IV FOR501-502

This course was formerly known as Native Spanish I. It is designed to teach/strengthen spelling, reading, writing and cognitive skills in Spanish. It focuses on basic Spanish grammar and reading comprehension, with some cultural study as well. This class will be given primarily in Spanish. Students must speak Spanish fluently and be able read and write some Spanish. Must pass 1^st semester before continuing to 2^nd semester.

Spanish V FOR511-512

This course was formerly called Native Spanish II. It is a continuation of Spanish III (formerly called Native Spanish I.) It is designed for students who are fluent in Spanish and have taken and passed Spanish III. This is a language arts course for fluent Spanish speakers. An emphasis is placed on reading, writing, vocabulary and culture. Must pass 1^st semester before continuing to 2^nd semester.
