All physical education class will be CO-EDUCATIONAL. Students are expected to dress in appropriate physical education attire and participate on a daily basis. Failure to do so will result in lost participation points, parent notification, and possible removal from the class.
Graduation requirements: 1.5 credits, including PE 101 OR Strength and Conditioning 1 and 1 credit is earned through taking one credit of the 5 elective courses sophomore, junior or senior year.
Grade 9

Health is a semester-long course required for all high school students in order to graduate. In this course students will explore the 7 Dimensions of Wellness in pursuit of an understanding on how to manipulate their daily routines to encompass a healthy lifestyle they can maintain for their entire life. As students explore the 7 dimensions they will learn about the body and the mind, they will delve into social and emotional wellness, they will discover the impacts of drugs and alcohol on the body, they will be introduced to a variety of current topics in health and wellness, and they will participate in training in First Aid and CPR.
Grade 9

PE 101 is a mandatory course for all incoming freshmen that will allow students to explore a broad spectrum of activities that will enhance their mental and physical wellness. Activities in this class will range from competitive team games, to individualized lifetime activities, strength training, outdoor adventure, dance and rhythm, and other general wellness activities. The idea behind PE 101 is to reach all students in some way that creates an interest in physical activity they can continue into the remainder of their high school career and beyond.

Are you someone who enjoys learning about the human body and is interested in how you can better take care of your own mind and body? Elective Health is an optional elective course for juniors and seniors who have a deeper interest in health and wellness and want to expand their understanding of what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle. This course will allow students to take control of a large portion of their learning as the class participates in project based learning and class debates that revolve around many current topics in the world of health. Students may choose to further explore things like diet and exercise, various advances in medical technologies that impact human health, or even complete studies on careers in the field of health and wellness.
Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12
Are you interested in learning more about how you can gain strength and speed but have no idea where to start? This class is a basic introduction to all things strength and speed. In this class you will learn about the body and how to incorporate the fundamentals necessary to improve your strength, speed, explosiveness, endurance, and body composition. A large portion of this class will take place in the weight room, but not all workouts will require excessive heavy lifting as there are many other ways to improve your personal fitness levels and this class will allow you to explore many of those alternative opportunities.
Grades: 10, 11, 12
Pre-requisite: Strength & Conditioning 1 OR approval from teacher based on weight room experience

Are you an athlete or a highly motivated individual who wants to utilize specific programming to reach new heights on your fitness journey? Advanced Strength and Speed is designed for those students/student athletes who have already completed PE 101 and Fundamental Speed & Strength or have been actively involved in the summer weights program. Training in this course will be specifically designed to significantly increase your strength, speed, explosive power, and overall athletic ability. If you’re ready to take the next step and become elite, this is the class for you!
Grades 10, 11 and 12

Prerequisite: Physical Education 101
Take ownership of your own fitness journey and participate in a variety of activities that you will be able to do for your entire lifetime! This class is designed for that person who is interested in finding ways to improve their overall health through the use of physical activity and wants to learn more about how they can make changes to their lifestyle to be healthy and active well beyond high school. Activities in this class will include fitness based strength, cardio, endurance, and mobility work as well as time participating in activities that could be deemed lifetime activities like golf, pickleball, badminton, disc golf and more.
Grade 10, 11 and 12

Do you love to compete? Do you often find yourself turning the simplest activities into some form of competition? Does getting your adrenaline pumping and being active really get you going? If this sounds like you, Competitive Games is the perfect fit for you! In this class you will be given the opportunity to be highly active and competitive on a daily basis in a multitude of team and individual activities such as football, softball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and more.
In addition to the team and individual competition, this class will provide you opportunities to compete against yourself and others in various fitness activities that will help promote your overall health and wellness. Trust us, if there is a way to turn an activity into a competition, you will experience it in this class!
Grades 11 and 12

Pre-requisite: Junior or Senior that has taken at least 1.0 total credits of PE
Course Fee: There is a $50 course fee associated with this class to cover busing costs for field trips. Additional equipment/rental fees will apply for field trips.
Adventure & Outdoor Education is an upper level course designed for those juniors and seniors who have an interest in exploring wellness opportunities in the outdoors. There is an expansive collection of activities out there in the world that allow for individual growth and this course will allow students to explore a large variety of them. Hiking, biking, climbing, camping, golf, tennis, team building, and more. Step outside your comfort zone and discover ways to challenge yourself like you may have never thought possible.
Do not expect to participate in competitive games in this course unless there is an occasional fun Friday or shortened class period where we as a class agree on an activity for a change of pace.
Grades 11 and 12

Concepts & Careers in Athletics is a course designed to broaden a student's understanding of a variety of fields in athletics that they may already have some experience with, but may not fully understand what it takes to be involved in post high school. Students will explore many hot topics in different sports, learn more about what it takes to be a coach in a sport they love, have the opportunity to get certified as an official within various sports, and will be introduced to aspects of athletic training and sports medicine. Students must be a junior or senior and have completed 1.5 credits of PE before taking this elective course as it will not focus at all on concepts of physical fitness and will have very little to no physical activity incorporated into the curriculum.
