Foundations of Art- (#091)

Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12

This is an introductory art class that will build on your current art skills. You will be challenged and encouraged to take artistic risks with drawing, painting, and making jewelry. This class will prepare you to be successful in all of the art classes to follow.
Note:  This class can be taken for either a semester or entire year.

2 Dimensional Art - Painting Focus - (#092) 

Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
1/2 Credit OR 1 Credit – (Painting focus)
There is a $5.00 fee for this class
Prerequisite: ½ credit of Foundational Art 

This class focuses on a variety of painting approaches – watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting.
Note:  This class can be taken for either a semester or entire year.

3 Dimensional Art - Pottery & Sculpture Focus

Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
1/2 Credit OR 1 Credit – (Painting focus)
There is a $5.00 fee for this class

This class focuses on the 3 dimensions of art and making objects with height, width, and depth. Be ready to construct things with your hands!
Note:  This class can be taken for either a semester or entire year.

The Art of Cartooning - (#099) 

Grades 11 and 12
1 Credit
There is a $5.00 fee for this class
Prerequisite: ½ credit of Foundations of Art 

This course examines the history of editorial cartoons, comic strips, caricatures, graphic novels, and animated films. Students will learn basic drawing and lettering techniques as they work to develop their own original characters, stories, and editorial statements. Student comics and editorial cartoons will be contributed to the school yearbook and newspaper as well as being published online. Our cartooning students will also have the opportunity to explore basic flipbook and stop motion animation.
