Equity

Creating equitable learning opportunities is of the utmost importance of the Newton Community School District. It is important to note that the information below is not an exhaustive representation of the ways in which we will ensure equity for all learners, but rather an overview of the ways in which our teachers, staff, and administrators will meet the needs of diverse learners.

Learners with Disabilities

IEP and 504 teams will collaborate to develop plans to ensure access to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), regardless of participation setting.

All IEPs will include remote learning plans that will be utilized in the event of a school closure.

English Learners

Students will receive "pull-out" services regardless of participation setting. Services for remote learners will be adjusted in proportion to time spent on other academic areas.

District communication will be made available in a language accessible to all families.

Gifted and Talented Learners

Students will receive "pull-out" services regardless of participation setting. Services for remote learners will be adjusted in proportion to time spent on other academic areas. Teachers will utilize strategies for Curricular Differentiation for meeting the needs of learners who are Gifted and Talented.
