Bill Henry Gates the third was born on October 28 1955 in Seattle Washington to William Gates Sr and Mary Gates. He was the third male to be named William Henry Gates which is why he has the third in his name. He is the middle child of his family and was the only boy. When Bill Gates was younger, he liked reading and thinking. One day, he decided to read the entire encyclopedia. He was introduced to his first computer, the teletype, when he attended Lakeside School. When he was 13 he made his first program for playing tic tac toe. Bill eventually graduated from Lakeside school and attended Harvard University for college. At the age 15, Bill made $20,000 from a computer program he made. At the age of 19, Bill left school to create a company called Microsoft with his friend Paul Allen. By 1987, he became a billionaire. When he was 39 he got married, but sadly the same year his mother died. He's also known for making 475,000 dollars an hour. He has over $10,000,000,000. In 2000, he and his wife also created the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to fight poverty and polio. This is the year he stepped down as CEO of Microsoft. He went to court a few times. Once because Apple thought that Microsoft made the same products as Apple but bill gates won in court. He was also taken to court by the government as the government thought he wasn’t being fair that other companies couldn’t compete with the internet. While Bill may have stepped down from Microsoft, he was still finding ways to work within his foundation. In 2007, he finally earned an honorary degree from Harvard after having left there so many years ago.
