Advanced Placement AP®

https://www.neenah.k12.wi.us/schools/high/academics/advancedplacement.cfm

According to the College Board, most four-year colleges in the U.S. and colleges in more than 60 other countries give students credit, advanced placement or both on the basis of AP® Exam scores. University of Wisconsin schools AP® scores credit policies.

By taking an AP® exam, students are given an opportunity to demonstrate that they have mastered the concepts of the college level course.

Beginning the fall of 2019, students who enroll in an AP® class will automatically be registered for that course's exam. If students do NOT wish to take the exam in May, it will be their responsibility to complete and return the necessary opt-out form to their assigned instructor by the first week in October to have their names removed from the exam order. (Exams will be ordered the first week in November.) Each exam fee is currently $97 (but may increase in future years).  If a student is in the Free or Reduced Lunch program a reduced exam fee can be arranged if the AP coordinator is made aware at registration. Confidentiality is assured. It is the student's responsibility to check with prospective post-secondary schools to ensure credit will be given prior to taking the course or exam. Early College Credit (ECC) and Start College Now (SCN)

The Early College Credit (4 year College/University) and Start College Now (Technical College) programs allow grade 11 and 12 students to enroll at institutions of higher education (institutions within the University of Wisconsin System; vocational, technical and adult education schools; or private, nonprofit institutions of higher education located in the state) to take courses leading to credit granted toward high school graduation.

A student participating in the Early College Credit and Start College Now programs may take a post-secondary course during the regular school year. The student must submit an application to the Institution of Higher Education (IHE) they plan to attend. The student must meet the admission requirements established by the IHE for this program.

The completed application is due to their school counselor to enroll in the IHE no later than:

Deadlines are strictly enforced by the IHE.

Under this program, if a student is to receive high school credit for a course(s) taken at an IHE, the school district will pay the tuition for the course(s). For NJSD to pay for this, the courses taken must be offerings unavailable through the high school curriculum. In addition, according to NJSD Board policy, a student will only be allowed to take 18 total credits over 2 years.
