Anthropology
Anthropology offers summer Field School experiences for students to go out in the field and experience anthropology first-hand.
Apparel, Retail Merchandising, and Design
The Fashion, Apparel & Business Organization (FABO) puts on an annual fashion show.
Architecture
The architecture program is a five-year professional course of study leading to a Master of Architecture degree.
Art
The Art department houses a giant wood kiln which is fired for five days each spring, allowing all Art students to fire their ceramics.
Biological Sciences
Biological Sciences professors have research projects with reptiles and amphibians. If you stop by the second floor in Stevens Hall, you'll get so see some of them.
Chemistry / Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
New labs are housed in the new state-of-the-art research building - Sugihara.
Criminal Justice
There is a Serial Killers course offered to learn about the historically famous serial killers and theories of the development of a serial killer.

Emergency Management
Emergency Management is an emerging field that offers many areas of specialization. Students work closely with the Landscape Architecture program, focusing on how to anticipate climate and urban disasters in cities.
English
Students create and edit an annual literary magazine, Northern Eclecta.
With the NDSU Press on campus, students are able to learn about every aspect of publishing, including how books are physically put together.
History / Public History
The History program works with Study Abroad to curate history related experiences around the world.
Interior Design
Students participate in the Scheels Design Challege to design a spall space.
Journalism
Students gain additional experience by working with the Bison Information Network (television), KNDS-96.9 (radio), or The Spectrum (print).
Landscape Architecture (Environmental Design)
Mathematics
The Mathematics Department hosts the annual Sonia Kovalevsky Day for local middle and high school women.
Music
The Challey School of Music offers a number of majors and minors in music, as well as opportunities for non-majors to perform in choir and instrumental ensembles.
Philosophy, Ethics, and Applied Humanities
Design your degree, including the option to do a directed study. This means working one-on-one with a professor and self-crafting the course content.
Physics
The Society for Physics Students hosts many events and activities for local K12 students to learn more about Physics.
Political Science
Many students interested in going into law school will take the Pre-Law track as a Political Science major.

Sociology
The Sociology and Anthropology Department has hosted movie nights where they watch a movie and then a panel discusses it through sociological and anthropological lenses. A recent one was Barbie (2023).
Spanish / Global Studies
Study Abroad is required for Global Studies and Spanish majors. These work well as secondary majors paired with other programs.
Statistics
NDSU holds an annual Red River Valley Statistical Conference. This conference includes undergraduate, graduate, and student group presentations on research conducted in the Department of Statistics.
Theatre Arts
Prospective and current students get FREE tickets to four mainstage productions each year, from musicals to drama to children's theatre to student-created productions.
Women and Gender Studies
As a field committed to fostering justice for all, students complete a Community Outreach capstone that places feminist theory into practice.
