Sr. Damien Marie Savino, F.S.E., Ph.D. is a Franciscan Sister of the Eucharist who holds a doctorate in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is the Melchor Visiting Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. Her award-winning scholarship sits at the intersection of Catholic teaching and scientific inquiry, and uniquely contributes to a deeper understanding of integral ecology, science and faith.
As a response to Pope Francis’s invitation to educators in his encyclical Laudato Si’, she developed a six-part video series produced by Salt + Light TV called “Educating for Laudato Si’” which accompanies a website (PraiseBeToYou.org) and accessible educational materials developed by the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist.
Funding from the Cavanaugh Council and President’s Circle supports her two-year appointment with the McGrath Institute for Church Life.
