Experience at BASF
Presentation Techniques Course- University of Copenhagen/Study Abroad (verbal)
Plant and Animal Interactions Course- Unviersity of Copenhagen/Study Abroad (written)
I completed a project aimed at improving the customer experience of BASF retailers. Communication skills were essential in collecting direct feedback from retailers and identifying emotions that drive the customer experience.
My written communication skills were also refined by creating a quarterly commercial excellence newsletter.
A valuable assignment while at BASF required me to contact “champions” of various teams at BASF. I showcased what I learned in a PowerPoint presentation which displayed my strong interviewing skills and my ability to make connections with other professionals.
While studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark and taking a course entitled "Presentation Techniques", I transformed into a skillful public speaker and learned tools for speaking in a professional setting. Throughout the course, I gave three presentations covering numerous topics in agriculture.
The preparation and delivery of the presentations improved my knowledge of the field and made me very comfortable speaking in front of an audience.
I improved my ability to write creatively and effectively in another course during my time abroad, called Plant and Animal Interactions. As part of the final grade, I was instructed to write an essay on any plant/animal relationship. I chose the relationship between the Colorado Potato Beetle and Solanaceous crops (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers). My essay evaluated the relationship's history and how humans can work symbiotically with plants to destroy the highly destructive beetle pest. Strong written communication skills are invaluable in the modern digital world, and this essay improved my competency in this area.
