The Hour of Code is intended to make students aware of what actually goes on behind the scenes in technology and hopefully get them interested in Computer Science. Once the Hour of Code is over, consider adding this to a list of activities which students can go to when they are done with other work. If you are unable to do this during this week, it can also be done the following week or anytime you can fit it in to your schedule.
· Students are learning that computer programming is a new “language” which makes technology work.
· This hour of code is intended to spark student interest in coding which teaches critical thinking and problem solving skills.
· Students can make connections to the real world and see what they are learning is relevant.
· Students also learn that coding could lead to a future career.
· Programming classes are available at Orestimba; something to look forward to.
Visit the website: Hour of Code, sign up to host an hour (Join Us Section towards the bottom) and show the video. This will put you on the map and include your students in the world-wide count.

Choose a day and time to complete your Hour of Code and have students go here : Learn and let them choose an activity. You can lead the coding by choosing a tutorial to do whole-class or you can let them explore by letting them choose a tutorial. There are many new tutorials for students to use and they are available for all levels.
Share the Library of Videos with your students to learn about technology. I recommend the Inspiration Video section.
