Google Classroom Skills for Teachers:

Guardian email summaries include:

  • Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers including grades.

• Number your assignments to make them easy to find and reference

• Provide as much detail as possible in the instructions to make sure they are successfull.  If necessary, go back and add information which students are asking about.

• Provide a learning goal so students know why the are completing this assignment.  Make sure it is student-friendly so they understand the purpose of the assignment.

• Let students know how the assignment will be assessed.  Attach a rubric so students have a guideline to the requirements of the assignment.

• Give them a due date

• Include all attachments and links to complete the assignment.

• Include a video describing the assignment and any steps necessary to complete the assignments.  

One suggestion:  use a Google Slide to put all of these instructions and information together with videos and links, like an assignment worksheet.   Remember, if sent out on Google Classroom, each student can get their own copy of the slides to complete the assignment right on the slides.
