Use this form when planning to implement new technology in your classroom. If it's a new web tool or app (paid or free) which will be used by students, we will check to see if a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) is needed before students use it. We also encourage staff to submit this request even if the tech tool is for staff use only. If it is for new tech equipment, the Tech Office will check for compatibility with the network and any other tech requirements to use it with students before purchasing. Tech equipment will proceed with the normal PO request to your administrator once it is vetted by the Tech Office.
Your administrator and the Tech App/Tool Vetting team will review this information and approve/deny the tech app/tool/equipment. Once approved, we will submit a request for a data privacy agreement if necessary. Please be aware this can take several weeks depending on the ability to contact the company if a DPA is requested. You will be notified when this is complete so you can start using it with your students.
The Common Sense Evaluations provide information about Tech Tools. This is a great place to start your evaluation process for any Tech Tools you are planning on implementing in your classroom.
1. A request is made to the App Vetting Team
App Vetting Team:
Your Admin - Does it meet site goals? Will it need to be purchased? If so, complete Questionnaire for new Tech. If your administrator approves the request for the tech tool/app, the request advances to other team members for approval.
Curriculum: Heather Vargas- Curricular alignment, does a district purchased program already address this need?
Privacy Evaluation: Rosie Briones - Check for privacy policy, data collected, age appropriate, parent permission
IT Tech Office: Edward Ross - checks for access, functionality and compatibility for use on/with Chromebooks, accessible through Securly Chromebook Filter and District firewall, Classlink/rostering options, Canvas integration.
2. Resource Vetting Team discusses request and approves/denies based on criteria
3. If approved, request gets submitted to CITE for privacy agreement (DPA)
4. DPA is signed and returned (this may take several weeks)
5. App/Web Tool gets added to approved list and gets deployed for classroom use
