About Me

Dear Heathrow Knights:

Stay safe and positive in the days to come. Remember what we talked about during National School Counseling Week:

"Christopher Reeve played one of the greatest heroes of all-time – Superman – in four movies. But a horse-riding accident left him paralyzed from the neck down, proving humans are more vulnerable than the characters they play on stage and screen. Reeve devoted the last decade of his life to finding a cure for paralysis, raising millions of dollars through his foundation.

He once said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” His resilience and grit in the face of tragedy, not his costume or his on-screen superpower, are what made him a true hero."

Kaela M. Cromer, MA Counselor Education

My educational background includes a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida (2006). I also have a Master of Arts in Counselor Education, School Counseling track, from the University of Central Florida (2010).

I have been a counselor at all three levels of PK-12th grade education. I have worked in three districts spanning two different states over the last eleven years of my career. I was named Educator of the Year during the 2018-2019 school year when I served in a small alternative high school in Kuna, Idaho. I have experience as a Student Staffing Resource Specialist in Seminole County as well.

I am especially excited to be a part of the Heathrow Elementary School team as their Certified School Counselor. I help to address the unique learning needs of our students at Heathrow Elementary as a member of the Student Study Team, the Multi-Tiered System of Supports Team, and by serving as the Section 504 Coordinator. I manage all the exceptional student support and gifted education referrals as well as coordinate many on-campus initiatives.

Professionally, I have been a member of the Florida School Counselors Association (FSCA) and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA.)

On a personal level, I was born and raised in Florida. I enjoy spending time with my daughter and our menagerie of animals. Gardening is a quiet passion of mine and I have many types of orchids, plumeria, bonsai, and succulents. I love crafting, exotic teas, Cuban coffee, the beach, and all things Disney!
