The Story of Film: An Odyssey is a 2011 British documentary film about the history of film. It was directed and narrated by Mark Cousins, a film critic from Northern Ireland, based on his 2004 book The Story of Film.
Research Tasks
Research into the history of videogames - create a visual display on either Photoshop or Canva for each generation - including key games, hardware, characters and industry figures.
Read a journal article from one of the theorists from the A Level course to further your understanding of their work.
You can search for names, and it will come up with a wide variety for each theorist.
Research the history of radio. With a specific focus upon the UK and BBC radio.
Consider the technology itself, but also how the industry has adapted and evolved as newer forms of audio and AV media have been introduced.

Visit the BFI Southbank, and watch a pre-1970s film.
Attend a Guardian Event - many are still online, but there will be more in-person events in future. Look out for some that relate to investiagtive journalism of the company.
Creative Tasks
Create an opening scene for a film/TV episode screenplay using CelTx. Use advice on screenwriting widely available online.
Create an audio-visual essay, breaking down a key scene from your favourite film or TV show into the four key micro elements of AV media (MES/Sound/Editing/Cinematography). Use Adobe Premiere or Da Vinci Resiolve to make your project. Useful link
Student Led Tasks
Create a Letterboxd account, and tick off all of the films you have watched.
Sign up for a course at the BFI - there are options for Summer courses, and those that run regularly throughout the year.
Y13 Play a narrative based videogame (The Last of Us, God of War, Resident Evil 8, Halo,), a gameplay based game (Any Battle Royale, Platformers,) and a fully independent game.
Compare elements like completion time, graphics, quality of graphics engine etc.
