Digital Standards

Overview

SVUSD has adopted Digital Standards K-12 for two reasons:

  1. We want to ensure our students are college and career ready. They will have competitive and appropriate technology skills upon graduation.
  2. We want to help our teachers know what to expect and do at each grade level when it comes to integrating technology into classroom activities.

Structure

The standards are divided into K-5 and 6-12 to emulate the same organization as the California Common Core Standards.

There are three main standards for each grade band:

  1. Basic Computer Skills
  2. Digital Citizenship
  3. Research, Collaboration, and Publishing

Each grade has a scope and sequence that indicates whether the teacher should Introduce (I), Reinforce (R), or Master (M).

Strand 1: Basic Computer skills

Strand 1 requires students to demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer and applications as an understanding of the concepts underlying the hardware, software and connectivity.

Evaluation and Measurement for Strand 1

Students will be monitored and evaluated with "I Can..." statements.
