The 6 Keys of Professional Learning are foundational practices that ensure professional learning in IPS is meaningful, equitable, and results-driven. These keys emphasize tailoring learning to educator roles, experience levels, and delivery modalities; modeling best practices in adult learning; grounding every experience in equity and cultural responsiveness; treating learning as a continuous process with clear next steps and accountability; aligning all professional learning to student learning outcomes; and using data and educator voice to inform decisions. Together, these keys create a framework that supports impactful, sustainable learning for all IPS staff—and ultimately benefits every IPS student.
Over the coming months, we will be rolling out a comprehensive professional learning plan built around the Six Keys of Professional Learning to ensure consistent and high-quality learning across IPS. Our plan includes both foundational sessions covering all six keys for new learning leaders and a range of deeper dive sessions, each focused on a specific key. The graphic on the right shows the keys' intended session order, and the following calendar lists their dates. These sessions are designed to offer Learning Leaders a clear understanding of the Six Keys framework, provide hands-on learning time through essential district resources such as the Professional Learning Checklist, and foster collaboration to develop and sustain equity-centered adult learning strategies as we continue to grow and lead together.
