We are thrilled to launch our next LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) cohort. LETRS is a comprehensive, research-based professional learning program that equips educators with deep knowledge in the science of reading—how students learn to read, why some struggle, and how to use evidence-based practices that accelerate student success.
This is a district-provided investment in our educators—at no cost. By completing LETRS Volumes 1 and 2, educators will be positioned to meet the state requirement, while also strengthening instructional practices and student outcomes. Together, Volumes 1 & 2 total 96 hours of professional learning—fully satisfying the 80-hour requirement for Indiana’s Early Literacy Endorsement. Indiana Literacy Endorsement FAQ from.

This cohort marks an exciting shift: we're not just providing a training program, we're giving participants a powerful framework for immediate classroom transformation. The Bridge to Practice (BTP) isn't extra work; it's your personalized application lab. It’s the essential step that moves LETRS from theory into your daily teaching, ensuring you can confidently diagnose and address the reading challenges of every student, especially your case study learners.
By completing the BTP activities—from analyzing student data through the lens of the Simple View of Reading to reflecting on the Four Processors—you are building the documented evidence required by our grant to demonstrate faithful and effective implementation, directly tying your professional growth to the successful outcomes promised to our community. This structured practice is your tool for mastery and the key to validating our continued investment in research-based literacy instruction.
