Onboarding
Onboarding
Onboarding’s purpose is to afford new hires a “big picture” understanding of the district, its strategic plans, its initiatives, connecting colleagues and providing a toolkit specific to their scope of work to hit the ground running.
It helps assimilate them into work and team processes and into an organizational culture.
It provides new hires with the necessary tools and resources to carry out their jobs and clear channels for ongoing knowledge acquisition and collaboration.
It instills in them a sense of connection to individual, group, and organization goals and a drive to contribute.
District Introduction: To provide new hires with a “big picture” understanding of the district, its strategic plans and its initiatives. This is the perfect chance to ensure new hires feel comfortable and safe, and cultivating their enthusiasm as new members of the team.
Onboarding Plan: Providing supervisors with the tools necessary to assimilate new hires on their path within the organization. These tools will ensure a great onboarding experience for a new hires first 90 days with IPS. These tools include a checklist and a resource folder with options.
Key Connections: The objective of the key connections is to allow the opportunity for new hires to begin to gain strong networks of support quickly while gaining context of their scope of work within and around their functional team/department.
Mentorship: All people benefit and grow through quality interactions with others. Mentorship strengthens capacity by cultivating the skills and knowledge of employees. Providing a mentor to a new hire is a powerful way to create an environment where they feel comfortable sharing ideas and taking risks. This, in turn, increases outcomes and overall achievement.
