It's truly a privilege to reconnect with some of my former students. Knowing them grow into accomplished professionals fills me with immense pride. Our time together in the classroom was just the beginning, and seeing their journeys unfold reaffirms the purpose of our shared experiences. I'm honored to have been a part of their path and look forward to hearing about the remarkable ways they're making a difference in the world.

My JVP Years Students

After decades, some of my former students arranged a meet-up and treated me to a fine dining experience. Amelrose hosted at Baguio Country Club wherein she is a club member, while Louie met with me during his visit in Naga City where I reside. At that time, he was a speaker and to work at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR.) Both were part of the top class during their second year high school days, and witnessing their growth fills me with immense pride!

My "Oragon" Students

These group of students from two different batches who some of them appear to be around my age (winking eyes,) which is why they are always eager to hang out on various spontaneous get-together. I'm truly glad to know that they are also professionals holding senior positions in government, private firms, running their own businesses, or working abroad for a greener pasture like me.

From Surabaya, Indonesia to Taichung, Taiwan

Celine was my IGCSE Geography student during her Grade 8 year at Xin Zhong School. Our paths crossed unexpectedly one Sunday morning at the Holy Mass at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Taichung. Since that serendipitous meeting, we've rekindled our friendship, maintaining regular communication and meeting up whenever possible. She even graciously gave me a campus tour of National Taichung University of Science and Technology, where she is currently studying.

If I am still in Taiwan, I would be delighted to attend her graduation ceremony!

Abroad and Aboard

S.Go was my student in Grade 1, studying in Singapore when this photo was taken. Years later, upon learning that I was traveling all the way from Indonesia to renew my visa, we arranged a lunch date. I was deeply touched when he sincerely apologized for his childhood mischief, acknowledging the headaches he had caused. He asked for forgiveness, showing a level of reflection and maturity that warmed my heart.

I reassured him that patience is one of a teacher’s greatest duties, and those moments of challenge are simply part of the journey. Regardless of how mischievous he once was, seeing what he has achieved now—a businessman—brings me nothing but joy!

Thanks to my former student, Chie for introducing me to the incredibly accommodating cabin crew, who ensured I was well-fed and well-taken care of throughout my flight from Manila to Taipei on May 18, from my short vacation with family and meeting-up special friends. Their kindness made the journey even more enjoyable, and the souvenir cap added a meaningful touch to the experience. As an AirAsia fan since 2014, this flight felt even more special!

Chie promised to be on duty when I take another flight with AirAsia next time.
