CLASS OBSERVATION
In Class 502, students are reviewing the sentence pattern "How much is the ____?" In this session, I used various currency bills and their conversions to help illustrate the concept. After the introduction, the class participated in a role-playing activity centered around shopping. This hands-on approach allowed students to practice asking about prices in a real-world context, reinforcing both their language skills and their understanding of numbers and currency.
This is a mandatory presentation for the Bilingual Department at school as part of getting to know their FET and the plan for school happened on June 2023.
As a new FET, I was visited by the MOE representative and the Director of CIEETRC, along with our Academic Director, Principal, and two bilingual teachers.
Our Director-General Tsai Ching-tian and Luke visited our school and observed my Class 505 on April 21.
During our lesson on the story "Earth Day" by Todd Parr, Teacher Lilian and I integrated the 3Rs—Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce—throughout the discussion and activities. As planned, we placed special emphasis on reuse and recycle during the writing component, where students created mini-posters. This hands-on activity encouraged them to apply what they learned by illustrating and writing ways to reuse and recycle in their everyday lives.
Class 501 participated in the Reading Competition. I trained them in proper stage projection, enunciation, and other essential skills. Plus fixing their hair to be in uniform. It was a tough process, especially since half of the selected students struggled with reading.
The Sports Day held on December 9, 2023, was a special event that celebrated both the school anniversary and Family Day. It brought together parents, students, and guests, who cheered for their children as they participated in traditional outdoor games. My role during the event was to usher parents, students, and guests into the exhibit room and assist with the award ceremony by presenting prizes to the winners.
April 4th is the annual celebration of Children’s Day in Taiwan, with most schools nationwide celebrating it on April 3rd. At our school, we held a simultaneous competition for each grade level, combining sports and academics. I designed the games for each level, and each one was facilitated by the assigned bilingual teacher.
Given the limited time, we conducted the events simultaneously. Despite the massive earthquake that struck just before the event, the students thoroughly enjoyed the activities, making it a memorable celebration.
Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year—a season celebrated across the world. Regardless of religion or belief, it has become a cherished tradition embraced by the younger generation.
Together with Teachers Sharen and Amanda, we have thoughtfully designed games that reflect key Christmas concepts, such as the spirit of giving and the deeper purpose behind the celebration.
I designed an interactive game for the incoming Grade 1 students during the Promotion and Recruitment Day on April 20, 2024.
The Parents' and Teachers' Dinner, attended by guests from Tianzhong Township Government officials, including the mayor, served as the venue for the turnover ceremony of the outgoing and incoming Parents Association President for the academic year 113-114.
At the same venue at Cinderella's Fairyland in Yuanlin City, the school together with the Parents Association had our Chinese New Year dinner in January and year-end dinner on December 27, 2024.
I had the opportunity to assist a group of students from National Changhua University of Education (NCUE) as part of their coursework in Bilingual Education. The students visited our school to gain a practical understanding of how bilingual programs are implemented in real-world classroom settings.
As part of their observation, the students attended my Grade 2 Remedial Class, where they were able to see firsthand how we integrate bilingual strategies to support learners with varying levels of language proficiency. I explained our teaching approaches, differentiated instruction techniques, and the types of materials we use to enhance both English and content learning.
Following the observation, the NCUE students conducted a series of thoughtful questions related to our school’s bilingual program.
I was impressed by their curiosity and professionalism. It was a rewarding experience to share our insights and to contribute to the development of future bilingual educators. I hope their visit provided valuable context for their studies and inspired them in their journey toward teaching excellence.
I’m excited to be part of the school’s 110th-anniversary celebration! As usual, I’ve designed three interactive games for the students. They’ll receive a stamp after joining and correctly answering each game.
The first day of school is exciting! Students enter clean and bright classrooms, ready to meet new friends and learn new things. As a teacher like me, we welcome them with kind smiles and helping them feel comfortable. The room fills with happy voices, colorful books, and the start of a great learning journey!
To ensure clear communication among the school, homeroom teachers, and students, each school should hold a Parents' Orientation during the first term. My role is to greet and meet attendees, move around the event, and capture photos of each class.
Graduation day is a happy and proud moment! Here in Taiwan, students wear their school uniform during the ceremony. They happily get the diplomas and celebrate with family and teachers afterwards. Smiles, claps, and photos make it a special day to remember! Traditionally, younger students gather in line from the venuw up to the gate to bid farewell to the graduates, showing respect and support as they move on to the next stage of their journey.
These students helped remove the old desks and chairs from our International English classroom and replaced them with new sets funded by the government. My role was to ensure that every corner of the room remained tidy, while Teacher Sharen oversaw the process and kept track of the exact number of each size.
I volunteer to help in any way I can, such as unboxing and sorting out textbooks for different levels and subjects. This small effort helps lighten the workload for the team and those in charge.
This presentation, titled "A Brief Comparison and Contrast of the Educational Systems of Taiwan and the Philippines," was delivered on the first day of work during the second semester, on 15 February 2024. During the presentation, Lilian, a Grade 3 LET, assisted by providing a verbal translation.
My presentation is about the topic "How the IE Lesson is Taught and Presented to the ESOL Students at TJES by the LET thru the Assistance of the LETs." I am showing the syllabus I made that is aligned to the textbooks that are commonly used by any government school.
I'm showing how I design the PPTs using the 3Ps: Presentation, Practice, and Production using the varied skills: Listening/Watching, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
