Every exam day, I prepare an oral test because I believe that speaking and listening skills are just as important as reading and writing. This activity gives students the chance to practice using English in a real and meaningful way, helping them become more confident speakers. It is one thing to know words on paper, but it is another to be able to say them clearly and understand others when they speak. Most of the questions are practical and can be used in everyday conversations, making this test very useful for real-life communication.
Oral tests also help me understand the students’ strengths and areas where they might need more support. Sometimes, students may know the right answer but feel shy or nervous when speaking. By having regular oral tests, students become more comfortable expressing their ideas out loud, improving their pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency over time. This practice prepares them for real conversations outside the classroom, such as talking with friends, teachers, or even future interviews.
Most importantly, these oral tests help students build confidence and celebrate their progress. Every time they speak, they grow stronger and more sure of themselves. Making mistakes is a natural part of learning, and this activity provides a safe space where students can try, learn, and improve without fear. Together, we make speaking English a fun and rewarding experience that opens many doors for their future.
