I have been teaching at Tai Ping Elementary School since 2022, and it has been an incredible journey so far. Working with young learners in this vibrant community has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. I focus on making English lessons fun, interactive, and meaningful, often incorporating storytelling, drama, and sustainable development themes to engage my students and help them connect with the world around them.
Tai Ping Elementary is a special place with a strong commitment to creativity and environmental awareness, which perfectly aligns with my teaching philosophy. From using the school’s beautiful banyan tree as inspiration to integrating SDG lessons in the classroom, I strive to create a nurturing and dynamic environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves and build essential language skills. Teaching here has truly been a rewarding experience.
From 2020 to 2022, I taught Values Education at Upper Bicutan National High School in the Philippines. During this time, I guided senior high school students through important lessons about character development, self-awareness, relationships, and decision-making. Teaching in the middle of the pandemic came with challenges, but it also opened opportunities to connect with students on a deeper level as they faced real-life struggles and uncertainties.
My experience there taught me the importance of empathy, listening, and creating a safe space for students to share and reflect. I learned how to adapt values-based lessons to fit different learning styles, whether through online platforms or printed modules. This experience helped shape my holistic approach to teaching, one that values not just academic growth, but emotional and personal development as well.
Right after graduating in 2017, I began my teaching career at Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati, where I had the privilege of teaching Contemporary Arts, Personal Development, and Literature to Grade 11 and 12 students. As a fresh graduate, it was both exciting and humbling to be entrusted with shaping the minds and values of senior high school learners in such a respected institution. The school’s focus on holistic education aligned perfectly with my passion for integrating creativity, reflection, and real-life relevance into every lesson.
My time at Don Bosco shaped the foundation of my teaching style. I learned how to design lessons that inspire critical thinking, self-awareness, and artistic expression. Working closely with both students and a supportive faculty helped me grow in confidence and commitment as an educator. This first teaching experience remains a meaningful part of my journey, it’s where I discovered just how powerful teaching can be in guiding students not just academically, but personally too.
