Democratic Party- The Democratic Party is a major support for universal health care, and they have worked hard to secure the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid. Affordable and quality health care is important to the Democrats , which drives their actions to pass such options for American citizens. More than 20 million Americans have obtained quality and affordable health care due to the Affordable Care Act. The Democratic Party has also ensured the coverage of Medicare and Medicaid in 31 states and in the District of Columbia.

Republican Party- The Republican Party believes in patients and their doctors coming together to decide the proper healthcare plan for themselves. They also are not in support of healthcare plans such as Obamacare and plan to replace them. It is stated by the Republican Party that the amount of government regulation within healthcare is responsible for high costs as an outcome. Government involvement in healthcare has also caused a drawback in market competition which the Republican Party does not find idealistic. A free market system is the GOP's solution to healthcare plans.
