  • Republicans believe that since the law enforcement jobs aren't easy, they need gratitude and respect, and by doing that we can recommit to the rule of law and the pursuit of justice. They do not like the harassment that the police force receive. They believe every human life matters. They urge Congress to codify the Common Law's Rule of Lenity that requires court to interpret things that are unclear statutes in favor of a defendant. They also believe that the judicial discretion about certain sentences led to the making of serious mistakes that involves dangerous criminals. They state that changes should be added to certain categories towards nonviolent offenders, or people with drugs, alcohol and also mental health issues should go to disclosure by the courts of any judicial departure from the state's sentencing requirements. They believe that the death penalty is a no go and serious criminals should just have major mandatory prison time. Every victim's family should receive relevant information about the victim's case, should be able to be present for the trial, and more. They want to encourage states to educate the prisoners before they release them back into the community. They want the children of the prisoners to be a special concern to schools, social services, and religious institutions.

They want to regulate the use of marijuana and provide a reasoned pathway for the future legalization. They want to abolish the death penalty which is cruel and unusual punishment. Finally, the want to rebuild trust in the criminal justice penalty.

My definition: Criminal Justice is a system that helps with people who have committed crimes and inflicts punishment on those who have.
