Why iPads?
In HWB we support all devices that can be used for mobile learning. This is because we believe that it is not about the device but how you use it to create interesting and inspiring learning opportunities. However there are now hundreds of different devices and we can't be experts in them all, and certainly can't expect staff and students to know how to use them. As such we have focused our own efforts on iPad's. We have found them to be both reliable and simple to use and this is key to a positive learning experience.

Short term loans
Short term loans
We work closely with the Technical teams to deliver an iPad loan service for short term loans to academics throughout the year. This can range from one iPad to test out apps or thirty iPads to use in class with students. In total the faculty has 150 short term loan iPads located in loan cabinets within the Robert Winston Building, Collegiate Hall and Owen building to ensure all departments are never far from a bank of iPads. If you would like to loan out any of our short term loan iPads please complete (and read carefully) the booking request form at the bottom of this page.
Long term loans
Long term loans
If you have an idea or desire to use an iPad to improve teaching and learning opportunities through your own practice we can provide an iPad for a long term loan. You do not need to have a fully formed idea to start the process as it is only after you immerse yourself in the app store and the learning possibilities that you may find the project that works for you and your students. All you need is a desire to get involved and to contact the HWB Tel team who can sit down with you and support you in the planning process. Please be aware that this service is dependent on the availability of iPads.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE COMPLETING YOUR REQUEST:
• All bookings including on the day (drop-in) bookings must be completed through the booking form
• The maximum number of iPads allowed on a single booking is 15
• The maximum number of iPads allowed when booking on the day is 5
• If somebody other than yourself will be collecting the iPads please indicate this on the form

• iPad's are only likely to need charging if they are used heavily for 2-3 days, for most bookings the iPads will last for up to 5 days without returning for charging
