TEL-e-Vision is a collection of small bite-size resources that are designed to support session delivery.
The pack currently includes:
Organising students into groups in a classroom environment can present numerous challenges. This tool has been created to facilitate this process and randomly allocates students to a group and assigns roles (where defined).
To access the group generator click the image opposite.
When working with a large list of student names, simply copy and paste these into the first box.
It is then possible to identify the roles you would like to see associated with the activity before selecting the number of desired groups.
Roles you may wish to consider using in group activities include:
This simple resource provides a quick way to create a QR Code for a website or other online resource. Paste (or type) the web address into the box provided and click build. You can then right click on the created image to save it away for future use.
The 'diamond nine' activity seeks to promote critical thinking and problem solving. The basic concept is that facts are presented as 9 cards or statements which have to be organized by priority into a diamond shape. This is a great activity for collaborative planning but is also useful in helping students structure tasks to complete a project.
In this interactive version, students are required to arrange the diamond shape from left to right with the left hand side being the most important or of a higher priority.
Building your diamond nine
The opening template (Click to open) provides a blank display which can be populated with text by clicking on the blue squares inside the cards themselves. When using a diamond nine activity it is helpful to provide an accompanying narrative which identifies whether or not students are allowed to swap some (or all) of the provided statements with those they create themselves. A Sample is shown below.
Adding Web Links
Web links can be added to the details section of any card and this will appear as a yellow square on the card itself. When entering a link remember to include the appropriate URL start information (i.e. http://www.shu.ac.uk. When using a very long link make use of a short url to ensure that this works correctly. All links open in a new window.
Changing the Background
The default background can be changed to reflect the type of activity you wish to construct. By default this is set to a standard diamond Nine.
Sharing Your Diamond Nine
Blank templates or completed diamond nine layouts can be shared via URL or as an embed code which can be placed within virtual learning environments. Simply click the appropriate button and then copy the required element to share.
When students have completed a diamond nine it is best if they then send this to their tutor as a URL link.
Finally, we have included two countdown timers for in class use, one an analogue countdown and the other a sand timer.
