Homemade Vanilla Cupcakes Article
by Miranda Vargas
Making these cupcakes was simple and quick. Mixing all the ingredients was a fast process. For a tip to make things easier, before putting the butter in, I'd put it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it. Also, you can use a spoon to put the batter into the liners, but an ice cream scoop works really well too. I had one of my brothers try one and he said it was good. I couldn’t get an opinion from my younger brother or my dad because they were asleep when I finished baking. My mom tried one and also said the cupcakes were great. I have made these once before and liked them enough to make them again. If you like cupcakes, I'd recommend these because they are simple to make and taste amazing. Ms. Henderson was disappointed that I didn’t bring her one to the meeting.
To make homemade vanilla cupcakes, you will need:
--1 stick of butter --¾ cups of sugar
--1 tsp of vanilla extract --2 eggs
--1 ½ cups of flour --1 tbsp of baking powder
--½ tsp salt --1 tbsp of sour cream
--½ cups of milk -- vanilla buttercream
Mix all of the ingredients.
Preheat oven to 350℉.
Get your pan and use 12 cupcake liners.
Fill your cupcake liners at least halfway.
When your oven is done preheating, put cupcakes in for 20-25 minutes.
Once the cupcakes are done, poke the cupcakes with a toothpick or a fork. If the toothpick comes out clean, it's done. If the toothpick comes out with batter on it, put the cupcakes in for a little bit longer.

Duncan Hines Dolly Parton’s Valentine’s Sugar Cookie Article
By Carli McMillen
For my recipe, I made Dolly Parton Valentine’s Sugar Cookies for the first time and they were good. I had my doubts because it said to add dried strawberries and I could not imagine baked dried fruit in cookies, but now I think it would be better. Even my sister liked them and she doesn’t like sugar cookies. It was very easy and inexpensive to make these cookies. The one issue I had was we didn’t have any strawberries because we forgot to get some when we bought the other ingredients. So I made the recipe without that part. I think they would have been better with the strawberries and I will try to use them next time. I would recommend making this recipe for family events like Christmas because they are a treat everyone can enjoy. My sister assisted me with making these which helped, but I still think it would be easy on my own as well. I would highly recommend these for family events or just to make for yourself, either way I rate these a 10/10.
