Staff members of the Pirate Press wanted to highlight some of their peers at Pierce by conducting interviews. They asked a lot of really good questions and then put it all together here for everyone to read.

Peyton Marnell is on 7th Grade Orange team. Her favorite color is Black. She lived in Park Forest when she was 5 years old and then moved here. She has 2 siblings; her younger brother (2) and younger sister (6). Her favorite staff member is Mr. Haddad. Her favorite music artist is Billie Eilish. Her favorite book is I Survived. Last but not least, a few of her interests are watching anime and the Harry Potter movies.

Gwen Felker is an 8th grader on the purple team.
Their favorite colors are dark blue, light purple, and light blue. Gwen’s favorite music artists are Odetari, Lumi Athena, and TV Girl. They enjoy watching Yuri on ice. They also enjoy reading Goldfinch. Gwen's favorite animals are bunnies and cats. Gwen has lived all over Indiana and Michigan. Gwen has a cat; her breed is a Russian cat. Its color is gray with tan spots. Her eye color is green. She’s female. She doesn’t like being picked up. Gwen also owns a dog; it’s a German Shepherd. It has natural German Shepherd colors. Its eyes are dark brown. The dog is female. She is very playful, acts very childish, and believes she is small and weighs nothing and often tries to sit on Gwen’s lap or lay on Gwen. She is also often hungry for no apparent reason. Gwen’s favorite teacher is Ms. Edwards. Their hobbies/Interests are playing their violin & piano. Gwen also enjoys drawing and participating in softball. Gwen also finds pleasure in reading. Gwen enjoys horror, romance, fantasy, music, and astrology. They participate in orchestra and softball. Gwen has no current spring break plans. They have not yet traveled anywhere pleasing in their eyes.

De’shay Torres is a student on the 7th grade Orange team. Her favorite colors are blue and rose gold. She loves the movie Little Rascals and her favorite music artist is Rod Wave. She has read a lot of book series, but she said her favorite out of all of them is The Babysitters Club. She is originally from Illinois, but has also lived in Indiana. She has two dogs, a chihuahua and a poodle. Their names are Chloe and Cody. Her favorite things to do in her freetime are drawing and painting. For her spring break plans, she wants to go to the beach and spend time with her family. She also would like to get a tan while she's there. De’shay is an amazing student and an amazing friend and I'm glad she's mine.

I interviewed Maliyah Hall today. She is on the 8th grade blue team. Her favorite color is purple. She loves any dish made from potatoes. Her favorite season is fall because she loves how neutral and uncomplicated it is. She doesn’t have any pets because she has not found the perfect one. She plays three instruments: viola, piano, and electric guitar because she is skilled in string instruments.

Zariah Townes is in the 7th grade. She is on the Orange team. Her favorite color is royal purple. Her favorite music artists are ICP, Cavetown, and Juice Wrld. She lived in Florida for a year and then came back to Chicago. She has no pets. Her hobbies include crocheting and painting. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Gordon. She does 2 extracurriculars, drama club and stage crew. Her spring break plans are going to Chicago to see her dad. She hasn’t traveled anywhere cool yet. Zariah is a great student and friend and I hope she’s happy in whatever she does.

Jasmine Simmons is a 7th grader on the orange team. Jasmine said she enjoys playing basketball and painting in her freetime. She has 5 siblings, two sisters and three brothers. Jasmine’s sisters are nine and twenty-one years old. Her brothers are eighteen, twelve, and twenty-four years old. She has one dog that is a rottweiler.

London Moses is on the 8th Grade blue team. Her favorite things to do are art and reading. She has lived in Gary and Chicago before living in Merrillville. She has one pet, a dog. Her hobbies include drawing and reading. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Arifee. She is a part of Academic Super Bowl, which Mr. Arifee coaches. Other extracurricular activities she attends include National Junior Honor Society and Drama Club. Her spring break plans are to travel to Illinois and Indianapolis. Places she has traveled to before include Florida and Alabama, as well as Illinois. Overall, I’m glad to have London as my best friend.

Kaden Hopson is an 8th grade student on the purple team. He was born on July 1, 2009. He’s a Cancer. His favorite season is summer because it’s the season he was born. Kaden’s favorite food is spaghetti. He has five siblings and has no pets. He wants a Cane Corso later in life, though. His favorite animals are monkeys, but I don’t know what type. A hobby that he has is playing video games and his favorite game is Fortnite. He likes the gym and football is his best sport. Kaden wants to go to the NFL when he’s older. His favorite color is red so maybe he’ll play for the Chiefs. While he’s a very active and social kid, he prefers to go somewhere he can get peace and quiet.
