The Atwater Falcon Street Percussion is comprised of excellent musicians who are interested in performing a percussive instrument outside of their main marching instrument. Training begins during the summer and continues throughout our fall season. Practices are during the evening throughout the week to allow our members the chance to commit to other interests outside the music program.
The Atwater Winter Percussion is a continuation of our percussion program during the winter season. The variety of percussive instruments is greatly expanded so members are able to venture out from their main band instrument and have new experiences. Along with our Winter Guard, instead of performing on the street, they will perform on the gym floor. Our Winter Percussion is deeply dedicated and is highly competitive within their division.
How to join:
The Atwater Street Percussion and Winter Percussion programs are open to all band students from Atwater High School.
Auditions are typically held in May to determine the lineup for the upcoming parade season. No prior drumming experience is necessary to join—we welcome any band students who aren't percussionists to try out and are willing to put in the hard work and dedication.
At the end of the parade season, the same process will occur for those interested in participating in our Winter Percussion program. Auditions are usually held in November. Again, no prior drumming experience is required.
We encourage you to take a chance, be part of something special, and showcase your talent with the Atwater Street Percussion and Winter Percussion. We can’t wait to see what you bring to our program!
