Professional appointment: Associate Dean
Professional profile: Wachira is an experienced educator and educational leader with a strong background in leadership, management, and teacher education across East and Southern Africa. He teaches leadership and management courses at the university level and has extensive experience training school principals and teachers in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania through projects supported by Ministries of Education, the Commonwealth, and the World Bank. His professional work spans both pre-service and in-service teacher education, with a particular focus on strengthening institutional leadership, professional practice, and system-level capacity.
Wachira’s work is strongly grounded in research and scholarship in education. His research interests focus on educational leadership, teacher education, and innovation in teaching and learning, with particular attention to how research can inform policy and practice in low-resource contexts. He is actively engaged in curriculum design, pedagogical research, and professional learning for educators, contributing to evidence-based approaches that support teacher development and leadership practice. Across his career, Wachira has focused on advancing quality, equity, and relevance in education, especially for learners and communities in marginalized and low-income settings. His work is informed by extensive experience across the East Africa and SADC regions, and a sustained commitment to strengthening educational leadership through research-informed practice.
