In today's world, technology is an integral part of our daily lives, and so it should play a part in our education as well. I feel very comfortable using technology in my classroom and I try to incorporate it frequently. In FLT 881, I learned more ways of how to use technology effectively in the foreign language classroom. As part of that class, I wrote a paper describing the ideal technology-infused foreign language classroom, which describes the physical environment of the room as well as specific resources and tools that I believe are important. I also wrote a paper about a specific language-learning tool, and chose the popular website Duolingo. Since I have written this paper, Duolingo has updated and I do think that it is a more effective tool than what it was when I wrote the paper. Both of these papers are embedded below.
Outside of the MAFLT Program, I have a graduate certificate in Educational Technology. In order to receive the certificate, I took the following classes: Technology's Impact on the Classroom Environment, Rethinking Learning Spaces, Students as Creators, Project Based Learning, and Teaching and Learning in an Online Environment (K-12). During that last course, I created a website for students, with the intention of actually teaching a Spanish course online. The website contains activities designed using the SAMR Model and can be accessed here.
Because of these courses and the technology course in the MAFLT Program, I feel much more prepared to use technology in my classroom in innovative ways and I am continuously searching for new technology tools. To see technology tools that I currently use in my classroom, please click here.
