I share here two Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs) which demonstrate how I take a more proficiency-oriented approach, even in assessment. IPAs focus on what students can DO with the language versus just what they know about it. Additionally, students benefit from completing an IPA as they continue learning and growing through the assessment, rather than it being separate from learning.
In this section I share two activity designs I created which approach the topics of homes and sports events from an intercultural perspective. The activities encourage students to investigate and interact in order to develop intercultural competence while also developing communicative competence in the interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes.
For this section, I share a technology-enhanced instructional unit all about sports, which I created using Google Sites. All six lessons are housed in the site, although it was designed to be a synchronous face-to-face unit. Therefore, tech tools are used throughout the unit, but the role of the instructor is crucial in implementing the lessons. Each lesson has an overview video and all student materials.
