Teaching Spanish with Literacy
This lesson is the one I presented at the FLEX conference. Here, I share techniques to help teachers use authentic texts without overwhelming their students and themselves.
I had the opportunity to delve into unfamiliar genres, and here's what I learned and developed. In this lesson, students analyzed the pros and cons of cellphone use. They were required to write a persuasive essay, choosing a side and providing factual information to support their stance.
Finally, I had the opportunity to explore a new genre: editorials. Here is my unit about it. It was enriching and highly interesting to step out of my comfort zone and delve into another type of literacy. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey and take great pride in the outcome of my work.

How to Incorporate CORPUS tools in a Foreign Language Class
Corpus tools can serve to raise language awareness in various ways. In this lesson, my intention is to raise awareness about biases in news articles. By identifying the repetition of the most frequently used words, students can recognize a biased pattern. The attached document provides further details about the project.
