Day 6 Blog

Second week day 1 blog

Conducted the morning staff meeting at 9:40am, checked everyone’s conditions and what they are going to do in their language classes.

Reminded the final due for the Chiri project presentation and kahoot questions for each presentation. Wednesday, June 30th’s class time is the last time and Thursday, July 1 is the presentation day.

Karaoka party update. Recroom is not going to work this year unfortunately and it will be through zoom but the students are going to do Costume party. Reminded that the students can only wear a costume appropriate for the dress code. (Too much skin showing off from the screen is not appropriate one, wigs are ok as it is considered as Japanese pop culture).

Told the staff that I will be going to the campus to pack the Academy t-shirts and gift delivery to the students and staff.

Debriefing - Ochakai/Lunch conducted by TA. How many students are participating so far and what are the common topics that they cover.

Checked out today’s special topic “Tohoku virtual tour”.

Correspond with the ITS department to fix one of the students having an access issue of Canvas.

Had a quick meeting with a lead teacher to follow up a t-shirt order, arranged a possible in-person meeting of packing arrangements.

Communicated with DOE if they can participate in a closing ceremony.

Communicated with DOE of receiving a file through a secure dropbox.

Participated in a special topic class with the students and answered questions.

Went to the hostsite campus to pick up the students' certificates, made sure the name spelling is correct, all the certificates including the staff’s completion certificates are ready to send. One of the staff’s certificates was missing so communicated with the program coordinator to arrange a new one for this staff.

Communicated with the administrator at the host site institution regarding the delivery of the t-shirt to identify where it was delivered. (Campus is huge to determine the package sometimes).

Prepared 45 packages with a lead teacher to send the certificate and the Academy T-shirts to be delivered to the student’s house before the closing ceremony. Confirmed their home address label are correctly typed, each student’s t-shirts sizes, add the gift I received from Mr. & Mrs. Anderson's daughter who passed away from the Great disaster of Tsunami in 2011. Their daughter is a graduate of the Academy and also a former RA when she was alive.

Communicated with the campus safety to ask to open the door at the mail room to send out the packages.
