I made sure on the daily schedule spreadsheet that who is in charge of taking the attendance, accepting/admitting the students while I am doing a presentation or someone else is doing a class and it worked very well.

Overall, it went well but definitely overwhelming volume of the work I needed to do especially, the thing happens quickly and I needed to take an action for anything on-going matter such as sending the students a zoom link as they did not have an access to the Canvas because of our side of problem. However, at the end, it all went good and
● Held the staff meeting 20 minutes prior to the Academy to make sure and encourage all the staff to start the Academy.
● Since it is an online program, the students were given by the host institution the student email account. By having this account, the students received the invitation of Canvas to join but there were quite a few students who were not able to attend due to their internet issue or host institution’s email address error etc.
● Communicated with the students and their parents about their attendance while I was observing one of the language classes.
● Conducted the opening ceremony, welcome speech, introduction of the staff, and explanation about the theme of the year at the Japanese Academy.
● Communicated with the DOE and program coordinator whether we should accept an additional student because there was an inquiry from the student who was in an alternative list who wanted to participate.
● Held the orientation of Chiri project so that the 6 groups will be able to start the projects with their Sensei and Senpai.
● Communicated with the Host institution IT department to fix the student account.
● Communicated with the host institution admin staff to check when the envelope arrives for sending the certificate and t-shirts to the students.
● Communicated with the guest lectures to make sure they are aware of the schedule and they have access to the zoom link for the lecture.
● Communicated with the Teachers about the student’s proficiency. For example, an advanced class teacher is one of the returnee teachers and she created the material based on last year’s material with a twist to match the levels of the student this year. However, many students were not able to utter in Japanese in language class. Guided the teacher to level down by not going through all the materials that she prepared. Also, provide more explanation and time for the students to complete the worksheet and materials. And more follow up time during the class so that they can ask a question.
Will monitor and follow up tomorrow as well.
● The student transfers from intermediate class to Beginner class.
● Directed the staff by texting timely through LINE to communicate thoroughly to be on the same page.
