Early Childhood Connected Learning Plan
Early Childhood Staff Availability
Office Hours:
Teachers are expected to have virtual office hours for 45 minutes in the AM and 45 minutes in the PM on Monday-Thursday.
Teachers will be utilizing this time for individual appointments with students/families for assessment and instructional purposes, as well as a way to stay personally connected with students/families.
Your teacher’s office hours will be communicated to you by your child's teacher and parents and/or students can request time to talk with their teacher during their office hours.
Organization and Planning
A master schedule for the week will be shared with you and your child. This will consist of:
consistent and predictable timing of circle time instruction
times your child will be participating in small group and one-on-one Google Meet instruction
Your child's teachers will be teaching in real-time with Google Meet Monday to Thursday. In addition, your child's teacher may also post or send instructional videos that can be viewed outside of the Google Meet scheduled sessions.
Your family will be provided with some learning activities that can be completed at a time convenient to your family.
Instruction will be based on the district-written curriculum which can be found on our district website linked here: Early Childhood Curriculum
Students with IEP's or other services required will continue to be provided based upon the goals of their IEP's and/or other service documents.
At home learning tips include:
remove distractions
set timers or create a calendar with times your child needs to get on the computer for instruction
Communication and Academic Content Delivery
Early childhood staff will:
utilize the Early Childhood Google Site to post information and activities
utilize Google Meet for synchronous video communication
record some lessons/videos and send these to parents
monitor how long students are in front of a computer screen
communicate frequently with parents using their district email account
communicate via phone when needed and will utilize interpreters for families that need them
Parents/guardians along with their child will:
engage in scheduled lessons over Google Meet
watch posted recorded videos/lessons when posted
engage in activities posted by the teacher at a time convenient to them
Student Feedback
Early childhood staff will:
continue to utilize standards-based grading. To learn more about this type of grading system, click here. To view the power standards and rubrics, go to the district website which is linked here
provide feedback to students during live Google Meet sessions
collect assessment data by power standards on the standards that can be assessed over a screen
Some standards/goals may not be able to be assessed over a screen. Because of this, early childhood staff will not give a marking on the report card on these standards as they all involve being physically with students.
