Elementary K-5 Connected Learning Plan

Teacher Availability

Office Hours:

  • Teachers are expected to have virtual office hours for 45 minutes in the AM and 45 minutes in the PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

      • Morning office hours: Teachers will have their google meet open and active to answer questions and support students and families. Parents/guardians and/or students can join the google meet during the designated time to have direct contact with their teacher.

      • Afternoon office hours: Teachers will be utilizing this time for individual appointments with students/families for assessment and instructional purposes, as well as a way to stay personally connected with students/families.

  • Wednesday morning is professional development for teachers which will replace their office hours for the morning, but teachers will still have their afternoon office hours on Wednesdays for individual appointments.

  • The weekly schedule also allows for daily intervention time where teachers will meet with small groups and individual students. These will be held over Google Meet at the start of the year, with the goal of meeting with students in person as the year progresses.

  • Your teacher’s office hours will be communicated to you by your child's teacher and parents and/or students can request time to talk with their teacher during their office hours.

Organization and Planning

  • A master schedule for the week will be shared with you and your child. This will consist of:

        • consistent and predictable timing of whole class instruction for core subjects (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies) and specials (music, art, PE, library, and class meetings)

        • times your child will be participating in small group and one-on-one Google Meet instruction

  • Your child's teachers will be teaching in real-time with Google Meet every day. In addition, your child's teacher may also post or send instructional videos that can be viewed outside of the Google Meet scheduled sessions.

  • Your child will also be assigned work to be completed outside of class time. This may include:

        • Watching posted videos to be viewed prior to class time.

        • Independent reading (your child may need to work their way up to the expectations below):

            • Kindergarten and First Grade - goal of 60 minutes/week
