This program is designed to help teachers incorporate movement into the foundation skills of literacy, math, science and social studies. The Mahomet-Seymour school district is implementing flexible seating options district wide. Funds to help make equipment for the changes to the learning environments have been made possible through the M-S Foundation & Title I Mini-grants along along with building funds. Go Noodle has activities have from seven different categories that either encourage physical activity only, healthy lifestyle choices with physical activity, and physical activity paired educational activities. This program has educational benefits for all ages. Activities vary from a few minutes to 20+ minutes. This program is a series of movements done while walking through the hallways. The Hallway Transition program provides respectful, responsible and safe movements. This is not mandatory for students but is an effective movement break. Movements include Windshield Wipers, The Cowboy, Rainstorm, Choo-Choo, The Wave and Circus Act. See More
Research supports the active teaching of handwriting. Recent findings demonstrate that writing by hand improves creative writing skills and fine motor skills. In fact, elementary students have been found to write more and faster by hand than when keyboarding. See More

Posture education is important is important in the education environment so that student are sitting in desks and chairs that fit them reasonably well. The therapy department is a good resource for teachers to help educate them on proper positioning, providing movement options and flexible seating options. See more
Pre-K recess is a weekly motor group that is done during recess with each class either on the playground or in the gym. The skills that are introduced to the students are similar skills that are being worked on in Kindergarten PE that week. Congruent equipment and instructions are use so that when the pre-K students enter the Kindergarten PE setting they will have had some previous exposure. See More
Pre-Teach PE is a 30 minute program with eight or fewer students that is taught by the P.E. teacher and supported by the Special Education staff and Therapist staff. All three departments collaborate to help adapt, modify and pre-teach students the motor skills needed for the upcoming P.E. unit. Yogarilla can be used with students to introduce them to Yoga. This program comes with oversized cards that have animated pictures of gorillas doing various exercises. Teachers incorporates these activities into small group time or during transition time between centers. If the students are pre-readers the teacher will choose a student leader to pick a card from the deck, show it to the class and together lead the exercise. See More
