REASONS WHY
This site encompases practical ideas and activities that are perfect for the first five minutes of class. This could be a great way to build relationships with your class in a creative way. Select resources and ideas are geared toward elementary and secondary students. You can sign up for the appropriate age level.
When you sign up new ideas are sent in your inbox each day at 7 AM EST.
GREETINGS
Starting class by greeting your students at the door helps set a positive tone for the rest of the day, promotes a sense of belonging and classroom community, boosts academic engagement, and reduces disruptive behavior. It also helps you be attune to the student behavior at the door and identify any concerns.
When greeting students at your door:
Say the student’s name
Make eye contact
Use a friendly greeting, such as a handshake, high five, thumbs-up, positive comment, or question.
Students can decline a greeting.
