MESSAGE FROM MRS. BECKER
MESSAGE FROM MRS. BECKER
Upchurch Families,
Upchurch Families,
It is a relief to have some higher temperatures outside and they look even better for next week! However, we are still dealing with the leftover snow and refreezing from the recent snowstorms. Thank you for your patience during the morning and afternoon traffic as we know the snow does slow things down. Safety is always the most important- it's our #1 rule! Below are some reminders that will aid in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic.

Thank you for your patience during the morning and afternoon traffic as we know the snow does slow things down. Safety is always the most important- it's our #1 rule! Below are some reminders that will aid in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic.
- With the high snow piles, the line of sight is not as clear. Be mindful and proceed slowly as students are crossing the street, because they may not be seen as easily.
- Do not leave your car unattended on the curbside at any time.
- If you choose to park in the lot, you will need to accompany your child to the crosswalk.
- Always remain in your car when dropping off/picking up your child(ren) along the curbs. Staff members will be available to assist your children in exiting or entering a vehicle.
- Children should exit/enter cars through the curbside door only.
- Parents may be asked to move their vehicles if they are blocking designated traffic areas or if vehicles are left unoccupied in the driveway.
Warm regards,

If you are signed up for a WatchDOG/SuperMOM shift and it no longer works in your schedule, please email Mrs. Mildenberger at eamildenberger@mpsomaha.org as soon as possible. A lot of time and attention is put in the schedules. A change in parent volunteers will need to go through the school. We have a waiting list of volunteers that we will contact to fill the spot. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email Mrs. Mildenberger to be added. When a cancellation occurs, the waiting list will be contacted in the order in which you asked to be put to the waiting list.

4TH GRADE HAL: BRIDGES PROJECT
4TH GRADE HAL: BRIDGES PROJECT
The Upchurch fourth grade HAL students have been enjoying learning about the engineering behind building bridges. They have learned about different truss structures and how they affect how much load, or weight, a bridge can handle. Students worked together to build bridges out of K'Nex sticks and tested them to see how much weight they could support. They will be building their own bridges out of popscicle sticks, which will be tested on February 5. Look for them in the display cases in February!
