The first project we did which was at the start of the year was where we drew what connects us to nature, and so I drew a little chairlift scene because whenever I am skiing is when I feel the most connected to nature. We wrote on the back the reason for why we feel so connected to nature doing this specific thing and so what I wrote was “I feel connected to nature by skiing because every moment of it I am surrounded by beauty. The lift ride up, I get to really look around at the mountains and landscapes around me. As I am skiing, I start to remember different parts of the mountain and eventually know the whole place by heart and in summary, I will always appreciate that I get to live in a place like this where I even have the ability to ski.”
The other project we did was an exhibition project, where we created an ad campaign for the issue of our choice that relates to drought. I chose to create a poster about saving our snow in Colorado from Global Warming and Climate Change. The reason I chose to do this as my poster is because it not only relates to drought, but it is important that people know about the fact that Colorado’s winters are starting to fade away and that there are easy ways to start helping. Some of the solutions I came up with were things like carpooling to help lessen the release of greenhouse gases, start buying reusable and/or non plastic products, and turning off lights to prevent too much energy generation.
This project was where me and 3 other people worked to create a script and then record it to put into our chapter of the documentary. Our chapter was Chapter 1, which was explaining how humans tell stories and how that relates to famous scientific discoveries. I worked really hard on the script so that our group would have it in time to record. Then I helped the editor of our group, Maddie, create the video that would illustrate what we were talking about.
