In this seminar we talked about many topics with the same drive, inequality. We answered many questions regarding the book just mercy and how inequality was present back then vs now. Also on the seminar worksheet I got a Exceeds because I made good points sited text and gave good evidence for my claims. Also as for the verbal part of the seminar I also got a Exceeds This is because I spoke clearly and presented well and when I asked or answered a question I always restated it and used a professional grade response to everything. I think that a great goal for the next Socratic seminar would be to keep up my good work and always provide evidence to support my claim and always aim for the best grade possible.
In this assignment I got a meets+ and I am very proud of this grade. Also in this assignment we were instructed to conduct research on what ever Ted talk topic we wanted to do about inequality so we did research on the topic and then we talked about it and wrote why we wanted to do it. Also I think that a good goal for next time would be to aim for an Exceeds because that is the next best goal and to do that I think I should add more writing and prove my points with better evidence.
On the reading diagnostic I got a score of 635 at a 8th grade level. Which is really good and this is at the beginning of the school year. Also In the USA I scored higher than 73 percent of all people in 8th grade that are in the USA the national percentile. Also in my domains for ELA which are basically my subjects that I tested on, my best testing score was comprehension of informational text where I got a score as high as the norm for 9th graders and my lowest score was in vocabulary where I got a high 6th grade level. I think that I could really improve on my vocabulary so I think a good goal to set would be to improve my vocabulary skills one one way I can do this is studying big words and expanding my knowledge on uncommon words and conducting research on root words and this will help my further excel in my ELA scores and increase my knowledge on the topic overall.

also for this project my grade was a meets+
we have been conducting research for our exhibition Ted talks for 8th grade humanity's on inequality.
In this exhibition I learned a lot and I learned that there are a lot of modern inequality's that I didn't even know were still here! For example I learned that Latino males are 2.4 times more likely to be arrested than your average white based on racial bias. Overall I did learn a lot in this exhibition but there are not a lot of real life advantages to this knowledge but I was able to improve my presenting skills and presentation organization skills that will help me in my future. Also Overall in this exhibition I got a Meets+ as my grade but for my presentation slides grade I got a Exceeds and for my oral presentation grade was a Meets and my research exhibition grade was a Exceeds. I got these grades because I took on multiple extra assignments to raise my grades and I worked really hard to complete my work on time and to meet and exceed the class norm grade. I think a good goal for next time would be to do even more challenge extensions and aim for an exceeds on my overall grade. I will do this by committing even more to my work and paying attention to the exceeds grading rubric and include every aspect of it into my next exhibition.

we are reading a book on Kit Carson in order to determine if he is guilty of mass murder on Native Americans!!!
I got a exceeds!
we wrote a essay on an controversial topic and this was mine
<--- (:
The learning goal in this project was “I can apply my knowledge of westward expansion, geology, and government by constructing a well organized mock trial for or against famous mountain man Kit Carson using logical reasoning, relevant and credible evidence and acknowledgement of opposing claims”. In this unit leading up to this exhibition we virtually traversed the timeline of the west and the taking over of the Americas learning about important events on historical figures that played key roles in westward expansion for example Kit Carson was a very influential leader during this time and was very important when it came to the Native American removal act when being placed under orders by general Carlton. We also learned about ELA skills like writing race paragraphs, or essays, and literary analysis. I applied these skills during our exhibition build up by creating a strong argument that gave me and my team the best chance of winning and by knowing all of the facts in order to learn how to prepare myself to defend and attack when in the court room. Overall I grew a lot as a student and this unit taught me a lot about the taking over of our country and how to properly write paragraphs, essays, responses, opening statements, closing statements and so much more. Some challenges that I had to overcome during this exhibition was trying to predict what the other team was going to say and coming up with counter arguments in order to defend my case and another thing that was challenging was refining my written aspect because there were so many things that I had to fix in order to make it the best that it could be but over all it worked out! I learned a lot about laws and our legal system back then and now and how I can use this in my future if I ever find myself in court, maybe as the jury or the defendant. It is always good to know how to defend myself if I get a speeding ticket. I learned a lot about myself as well because creating and planning for this exhibition really brought out my competitive nature and what I realized is than when I am passionate about something I really try my best on it and that surprised me because I didn't think that this exhibition was going to be very exciting but I was totally wrong! Based on the rubric I think I met all of the standards and more, I completed all of my projects on time, my work was refined and thought out, and I worked really hard and went above and beyond on everything! I think 1 really good goal for me for the next exhibition would be to communicate with my team more because even though we were really successful, I failed to establish proper communication because half of the time I was just doing things on my own! Also I got an exceeds!
The goal of this project was to replace my oral grade of the mock trial exhibition because I was not there so instead Shawn and I made a presentation comparing the Fiji legal system and the USA legal system and we talked about multiple different aspects of each like courts, laws, and elections. From this project I learned a lot about the legal system of Fiji because I was the one in charge of researching Fiji's legal system and some things that I learned were that Fiji has 4 courts and they elect members of parliament and then the members of parliament elect a president. The grade I got for this project was an exceeds because I worked really hard to complete this project and made sure to give it my all in order to fully earn my oral grade for my mock trial exhibition. I think a great goal for next time would be to check a little earlier so that I never have to make up a exhibition grade.
The Purpose of this assignment was to fully understand the timeline of the expansion west and to gain as much starting information before starting to write our written aspect for our mock trial. For my Blood and Thunder Readers log I got the grade of exceeds This is because I was consistent with my work and always went into detail when describing the summary of the chapter And I chose my quotes appropriately and was very responsible with completing my work. The habits of heart and mind that I used to complete this project were pretty much all of them because with every paragraph I wrote or book I read I always make sure to rethink my work and make changes to my work if needed so I used a lot of refinement and also I always put all of my effort into my work and made sure to be respectful of the cultures we researched and the people I talked and collaborated with and I always used integrity when doing work and made sure not to ever use AI or ask others for answers.
The purpose of this assignment was to prepare for what we were going to say in the mock trial and it was to grade our written aspect and organize our opening and closing statements, and our direct and cross examination. For this assignment I got the grade of a meets+ because I worked really hard to create the strongest argument in order to win and put a lot of effort into my writings and I made sure to do a lot of refining with my teacher. The habits of heart and mind that I used in this project were primarily effort and refinement because I made sure to put my all into this assignment and complete it early so that I could fix the weak areas in my argument and make it the best it could be!
The purpose of this assignment was to learn how to properly write a race paragraph and analyze a story about Native American culture and lifestyle in an organized fashion. On this project I got the grade of meets because I worked really hard to pay attention to all of the details in order to fully understand Native American lifestyle and how settlers and Natives interacted and then I used my writing skills to properly analyze this story and write a paragraph talking about what I learned. The habits of heart and mind that I used on this project were refinement, respect, effort, and integrity because I respected my teachers when I asked for help and when I needed help I made sure to take advice to truly refine my paragraph and make it the best and I put all of my effort into this project making it detailed and clear to make it look good and sound good and I used integrity by not using Ai to complete my work!
