This is the most important skill! To display a slide, just click on it, that’s super easy. But, putting the slides up at the right time can prove to be a challenge. ALL new ProPresenter operators tend to put the lyric slides up too late. You always want the slide up before they need to sing those words. In general, when there are 2-4 words left on that slide go to the next one. You ALWAYS have to go earlier than you expect. This is for a few reasons, first, there’s a transition time of .5 seconds to it’s not an abrupt change. Second, the congregation already knows those words. They’re looking for what is coming next. It’s like reading a book out loud. Your eyes are actually half a sentence ahead of your mouth.

The reason this is so important is the congregation is relying on you to lead them in worship! On a hymn book they can just read ahead. With screens you control how far ahead they can read. In order to be transparent and not take people out of worship we need to put lyrics up before we get to the last word of the slide so they know what's coming next and can continue singing along.
When you’re learning timing, don’t look at the ProPresenter screen in front of you--look at the main screen. Here’s why, your brain, by seeing the other slides in the song, knows what’s coming next, so you don’t think you need those lyrics up as soon as they need to be up. When you’re only looking at the main screen your brain needs more data, that’s when you go to the next slide.
