The Toolbar has several buttons on it. You don’t need to know all of them to get to Journeyman, but here are a few that are important. A couple more will be covered later on in this section.
Clear All - This one is important. If, for whatever reason, you need to go to black, this is what that button does. Clear Slides and Clear Backgrounds are also handy, but not normally used.
Clear Slides - This removes any slides (lyrics or graphics) that are up, but leaves backgrounds. For more information on layers, see section A10.1.
Clear Background - This does the opposite of clear slides, it removes backgrounds while leaving slides up. For more information on layers, see section A10.1.
New Document - Creates a new document. This is covered later in the Journeyman section J3.3.
Editor - Detailed editing of documents. This is covered later in the Apprentice section A9.
Reflow - This allows you to rearrange the lyrics in a very quick way. This is covered later in the Journeyman section J3.3.
Video/Image Bin - This houses all videos, backgrounds, and images used in ProPresenter. Think of it as a library for graphics. This is not a heavily used feature in the way we currently use ProPresenter.
Messages - Messages is how we display something on the front screens. For example the countdown to the start of service. This is covered in more detail in Apprentice section A6.
Stage Msg - This is how we display message on the Stage Display (TV on the back wall). For example, when we are running ahead of Mountain Road and need to tell the band or hosts to slow down, we put a message up on that screen using Stage Message. To display a stage message, click the Stage Msg icon, type the message, and click “show message.” Click hide, then clear, when the hosts give a nod or in some way acknowledge they understand.
Clocks - ProPresenter can run several clocks at once. Here at Abingdon we typically only use one, the preservice countdown clock. But we normally start, display, and reset that through the message dropdown.
Format - This button drops down a basic text formatting toolbar when editing slides. It allows you to change the typeface, size, alignment, etc.
Output Toggle - This toggles the output on and off. For GFX 1, this needs to be OFF all the time. Command + 1 is the toggle hotkey.
Volume - This is a simple master volume control for any audio that ProPresenter is sending out. On GFX 1 this is superfluous because GFX 1 does not output any audio. On GFX 2 this should be all the way up.
