If you’ve worked with a program like Adobe Photoshop you’ll be familiar with layers. If not, think of it like an old school overhead projector. You can lay down one piece of clear plastic with a drawing on it, lay down a second with some colors, and lay down a third with your signature. Those three layers combine to make one final image. The items laid down most recently or on “top” take precedence and will cover over the items below them. ProPresenter works in a similar way.
From the bottom to the top MCC uses the following layers:
Video Playback - background graphics
Slides - Everything else (lyrics, announcement graphics, etc.)
This matters when an image is dragged into something like an announcement document. If that image is set to be a background it will not clear when a lyric slide is clicked. Instead it will display the lyric on top of it. ALL images should be set to foregrounds so when a lyric is clicked, only the lyric is displayed. This concept is covered more in Background/Foreground
Groups are a way of organizing lyric slides when a song has several different versions. It can be a little confusing, so watch the video on the left to understand.
