Well done to all of you who submitted your 'Draw With Rob' illustrations. All of your brilliant characters can be seen here.
This fortnight's challenge involves you becoming... an architect!
What is an architect?
An architect is a person who designs buildings and prepares plans. What he or she designs is called ‘architecture’.
Architects make drawings with pens, pencils, and design software. This is also called ‘drafting’.
Sometimes they make small toy-sized model buildings to show what the building will look like in the future.
Architects decide the size, shape, and what the building will be made from. They also think about how to make a building’s structure safe, and how to make it attractive.
What is the challenge?
Your challenge is to design and build a model of a city (inside of a box). You can base this on a city that already exists, or if you want a challenge, you can design your own city.
All the instructions you need are in this brilliant resource from the Royal Institute of British Architects https://www.architecture.com/-/media/files/Learning/Learning-at-home/Cereal-Box-City.pdf?la=en
The designing of your foreground, middleground and background is really important in this… what shapes and materials would work well for each part? How are you going to make your cityscape visually appealing?
You could draw or paint each building, or create your images digitally. It’s completely up to you!
Remember to send a picture of your final creation to art@morley.cambs.sch.uk by Wednesday 1st July (remember no faces or surnames, just your first name included!) and it will be posted in our Gallery section.
If you would like to share your model with me, but would rather it wasn't posted on the website, put 'Not for gallery' in the subject line.
Enjoy,
Miss Dalby
