Activity 1: Learning Design Solution and Technology Plan
Overview
In this capstone project, you will be completing one of the most important exercises that an instructional designer does as a result of the initial design thinking exercise. You will be completing the solution portion of the instructional design solution and then begin planning for its implementation.
Performance outcomes
Candidates will design a learning solution and technology implementation plan for a specific target audience
What will you do?
Think creatively and design the learning solution for the target audience you identified at the end of the previous unit. Complete the Phase II section of the TEACH-NOW Learning Design Solution Template document.
Visualize your solution as a flowchart or mind map of how learning will occur through your solution. Draw it using any flowcharting or presentation tool that you are comfortable using. Presenting the solution visually is very important in organizing it and it helps in the thinking process as well.
Write detailed descriptions of your learning solution in a manner that it can be used as an implementation guide rather than a research paper. Think of it as business requirements that you would hand over to a technology team to implement. The more detailed your solution, the better, so think about all the various aspects of how you would implement this solution.
Use the research you have done on ID models to complete the final section of the document on the Technology Implementation Plan. This section should be designed like a project plan with a tentative timeline and milestones. Note: You will be identifying sections of your learning solution and technology plan that you will implement at your school in the next module, so make your plan as detailed as possible.
Consider building in a pilot or focused group testing phase in your technology implementation plan that will allow you to test your solution before implementing it at a whole school level.
Share your final plan with your school or district supervisor for review and approval. Schedule a meeting and record (audio or video) the meeting to review the feedback you receive from your supervisor.
