Activity 1: Conducting a Survey of Technology Infrastructure
Develop 3 Surveys to inqure about technology and learning in your school.
Survey 1: Administrator- Principal, AP, Dean, etc.Â
Survey 2: IT- IT Manager/Director, IT Support team, etc.Â
Survey 3: Teachers- A variety of grade levels encouraged
Look at the activity description for specific topics to be asking about based on the party that you are surveying. Â
These can be a survey, it does not have to be an interview.Â
Post the questions that you develop to the discussion forum. Sharing questions with each other can be a support to each other as you are working on your individual survey development.Â
Once you have collected the information using the surveys:
Analyze the information and develop a report with the following information:Â
Introduction: Introducing the report, its purpose, and what readers will find as they continue reading
Summary: Your findings from the interview with the campus administrator on learning, vision, future ideas, etc., findings from teacher survey on in the classroom effects, devices, etc., and findings from your interview with the IT manager on infrastructure, support, devices, etc.Â
Breakdown: How is technology impacting learning currently, and what are some possible changes (based on your opinion and the interview) that could improve the learning climate of the school. Include examples and research to support your opinion.
Conclusion: Your specific recommendations for initial next steps (device integration, future training/professional development, discussion or team meetings, etc.).
Structure of the Report:
This capstone project is going to be built piece by piece. You may choose to to create the report in a slideshow (google slides, canvas, etc.) or document. The format of your reports should be consistent, so choose a structure (slides/doc) that you are happy with and can add onto over time.Â
