Unit 4: Capstone Project: Instructional Needs Analysis

Overview

For this part of your capstone project, you will be focusing on instructional coaching. As you have gone through this module you have learned about different resources, strategies, and tools for coaching and professional development. Using this information, you will build on your experiences with coaching and professional development, and start planning for the future of your school/district.

Performance outcomes

• Candidates will survey their stakeholders to determine the focus of future coaching and professional development opportunities for educational technology integration.

• Candidates will use the data collected to create four proposed professional development training sessions and two possible coaching opportunities.

What will you do?

1. In the VC and in the Discussion Forum, discuss what questions would be effective to use in a survey to determine the educational technology needs of teachers and administrators.  Thinking about Units 1-3, determine the best ideas and survey options to ask your school/district.  

2. Use Google Forms to create your survey and explore the “Go to Section Based On Answer” to tailor the form to serve both a Teacher Need Survey and an Administration Coaching Recommendation Survey.  All of your questions should live in the same survey. 

3. Collect responses from the school or district that you have been working with.

4. Using the data collected, fill out the Professional Development/Coaching Template document found in the Activity Resources. You will be using the data from your survey, the coaching and professional development models you chose, as well as Google Drawings within this template.

5. Once you have completed this activity, please add your work to the capstone project section of your e-portfolio.

• Discussion about survey questions on the Discussion Forum 

• Survey to collect information about teacher and administration needs for training and coaching in EdTech.

• Completed Professional Development/Coaching Template

• Link to your e-portfolio
