Frontlog location (holdings record):
Mq9 = Frontlog A
Mq9b = Frontlog B
Most books are shelved in the frontlog location indicated in the holdings record, but some are misshelved, so check both frontlogs if necessary.
Frontlog number (bibliographic record)
Bibliographic records for frontlog titles have frontlog numbers in the 910 and/or 935 fields.
935: This, the Voyager system ID number, is what the oldest frontlog bib records have. It’s six digits, no letters, followed by “(NNMoMA).” If there is a 935 in the record, the book is probably shelved in the frontlog under that number.
Example: 935 _ _ |a 316693 (NNMoMA)
910: This, the Sierra system ID number, begins with “.b”. More recent additions to the frontlog will have only a 910, and often will have the same number without the .b prefix in the holdings record.
Often, bib records will have both a 935 and a 910. On the shelves, check for the 935 first.
Example:
Bib record: 910 _ _ .b11444678
Holdings: 852 8 _ $$b MoMAQNS $$c mq9 $$h 1144467
Note that the Sierra number in the holdings is the same as the 910 in the bib record, minus the .b prefix and the last digit: b11444678 vs 1144467. In the frontlog, sometimes the number on the slip inserted in teh book was written with the .b prefix, but usually without, and with the last digit omitted. (The last digit is a check digit.)
Sometimes, in addition to our frontlog record, there is also a Frick or Brooklyn full-level record in Alma. If there is
relink our holdings to the Frick/Brooklyn bibliographic record
If the OCLC number in 035 of the frontlog record is different from the OCLC 035 in the Frick/Brooklyn record, search it in Connexion and delete MMX holdings
Keep it.
Search the 035 OCLC # in Connexion, and make sure MMX holdings are attached to the OCLC record. If holdings are not attached, update holdings.
Assign 050 LC number in the Alma bib record if necessary.
Add 852(s)/952(s) with CO or MO, as appropriate to the bib record.
In the Alma holdings record:
update the 852 first indicator to 0,
update 852 $c with the correct shelving location
replace the contents of 852 $h with the LC call number
Keep it.
Search for an equivalent record in Connexion, and make sure MMX holdings are attached to the OCLC record. If holdings are not attached, update holdings.
(An equivalent record would be the best availablel OCLC record for the book; should be a match in title, isbn, edition, publication date, etc.)
Attach MMX holdings to the OCLC record
Assign 050 LC number in the Alma bib record if necessary.
Add 852(s)/952(s) with CO or MO, as appropriate to the bib record.
In the Alma holdings record:
update the 852 first indicator to 0,
update 852 $c with the correct shelving location
replace the contents of 852 $h with the LC call number
Overlay it with it with a full level, English-language record
Search the 035 OCLC # in Connexion, if present, and, if MMX holdings are attached to the OCLC record, delete MMX holdings
Find a full-level, English-language record in Connexion, or create one if necessary.
Follow the usual procedures for overlaying an Alma record.
In the Alma holdings record:
update the 852 first indicator to 0,
update 852 $c with the correct shelving location
replace the contents of 852 $h with the LC call number
